One More Question31 Aug 2007 10:16 am

Does anyone have experience getting a matchbox car out of a bathtub faucet?  I must have been absent that day in school…..

I have an HOA?31 Aug 2007 08:16 am

I got a letter from my HOA, to which I’ve paid no dues and met nobody on the board.  I’ve not been welcomed, informed of rules, or given parameters.  Yet apparently my “unsightly weeds” are bringing down my neighbor’s property values.

Which begs the question:  What about the “sightly” ones? (more…)

Made a Mother30 Aug 2007 04:25 am

Six years ago tonight, tender, torn and unable to walk without looking like a cowboy too long in the saddle, I spent my first hours as a mother. Little did I know what was hurling down the tracks- had I known, I might have trembled in fear, and perhaps paused before lying down on the tracks.

My big, freckle-faced red-headed boy lies in his bed above, clutching, even in sleep, his beloved new Transformer robots. The day was a resounding success- and despite the necessary evil that are children’s birthday parties, everyone left happy and mostly not bleeding. (more…)

Oh What a Night29 Aug 2007 06:33 am

My son woke up crying last night.  I haven’t had a newborn for years, and I am used to my full night’s sleep, thank you very much.  I went into his room to see what was wrong, and he was sobbing and saying “My room is messy.”

 Oooookaaayy…….. (more…)

New Online Book Club28 Aug 2007 10:07 am

Hi everyone, I just wanted to announce that I’ve started an online book club for anyone who is interested in joining and finding new good books on the market. The book club forum is here. If you only want to read the discussion, you can simply browse the forum as a guest. However, if you’d like to participate in the monthly chats, please register an account (takes only seconds) and join in the happy fray.

For the month of September we are deciding between reading C.S. Lewis’, “Till We Have Faces,” or Lisa Windgate’s, “Tending Roses.” It looks like C.S. Lewis is in the lead…

So come on by! I know I spend too much time staring at a computer instead of snuggling up with a good book. We even have desserts! Drop by and see if it’s for you.

Anger Management28 Aug 2007 04:41 am

I yelled at my son yesterday.  And not just the hollering, “Hey, stop it” type yell.  I unleashed all the fury of the pushed to the edge, over the top annoyed, sleep deprived mamma that I am.

Not surprisingly, it made him cry. (more…)

My big plans27 Aug 2007 10:30 am

I once read a book that I bought for $5.00 in an airport, it looked fun, NYT bestseller.  Bestsellers can’t be all bad, right?  It was total crap.  I mean, truly. It was predictable, the heroine was the whiniest little chick (and a vampire) you’ve ever seen.  Somehow her super handsome fiance was deeply in love with her and put up with her being a high maintenance, indecisive, needy little nightmare and told her constantly how there was no comparison, and I was like, dude, I would have dumped her decades ago. Do NOT waste immortality on this chick.  (more…)

In Spite of Me26 Aug 2007 09:52 am

The Teacher23 Aug 2007 08:34 am

I have to go clean my house.  (Therefore I’m blogging.) Never mind that I spent lots of time cleaning it yesterday.  Nope, it’s still not done.  And if you had seen the state of my house yesterday, you would understand why it’s still not done. (Yes, my designer friend, I’m talking to you.  You get it, right?)

The main reason, however, that I still have to clean my house today is not because I freakishly need a clean house at all times.  (HAHAHAHAHA) Nope, it’s because my child’s third grade teacher is coming over today at 5:00 for a home visit. (more…)

I said a BOOM, chick-a-boom.

I said a BOOM, chick-a-boom.

I said a boom, chick-a rocka, chick-a-rocka, chick-a boom.

Uh-huh.

Oh yeah.

One more time.

Repeat the above lines ad nauseum for a few hours and you will have my afternoon.  Ha ha.  You now have it in your heads.  (One more time….)
