Fablehaven Five - Let’s Talk31 Mar 2010 11:47 am

fablehaven-5-.jpg….unless, of course, you haven’t read the book, in which case you should skip this post entirely, because there will be spoilers.  But I really, really, want to talk about it, so indulge me. (more…)

Best part is when Jin saw pictures of his little girl. The rest of it? I gotta say, meh. (more…)

Is it ever OK to Quit?29 Mar 2010 07:06 pm

For months now, I’ve devoted every waking moment to raising money for our elementary school’s PTA budget.  When the fundraiser was over 4 weeks ago I was waiting for that huge sigh of relief to envelop me – the one where you suddenly feel euphoric at your accomplishment, can tell yourself job well done and close the door on your success.  But that hasn’t happened.  (more…)

LOST: Hell looks like Hawaii?24 Mar 2010 08:35 pm

I mean, for a guy who reads the Bible a lot, shouldn’t the palm trees have been Richard’s first clue that he wasn’t in hell? (more…)

Lessons from T-Ball, and other Randomness24 Mar 2010 10:50 am

Yoga poses in the outfield are fun.

Chasing the ball, regardless of whether or not your team was the one that hit the thing = good.   Also, first base –> second base –> third base, tricky stuff sometimes - especially if there’s a ball around that needs chasing.     (more…)

Are We There Yet?21 Mar 2010 04:41 pm

On Thursday we set off on a 2000 mile round trip trek across the states of Arkansas, Tennessee and Virginia for Washington DC.  While most families are soaking up the sun in tropical places like Florida and Mexico, we are shoving American history down the throats of our youngins.    (more…)

Evidences that I am still in a family way OR They SAY it gets better here in a few weeks.21 Mar 2010 09:27 am

I’m still pretty heavily entrenched in the land of denial, but a few things (along with having heard a heartbeat via dopler mic on my abdomen that did not belong to MY heart) lead me to believe that perhaps I am indeed still harboring a passenger in my uterus.

Update on Diana20 Mar 2010 11:19 am

For those of you praying - and thank you! - here’s the latest.

She is currently on an ECMO machine for her heart and lungs, as she had two more cardiac arrests.  However, her chest x-ray now looks better than it has since she was admitted, and they are beginning to slowly wean her off the ecmo back onto the ventilator.

The good news - her kidneys are now outputting urine, so they are taking her off dialysis.  If she still needs help, they will obviously give her some support, but they do not want her to become dependent on the machine. (more…)

Would somebody please tell me where the time goes?20 Mar 2010 07:01 am

My son is getting baptized today. He’s all, like, big, and everything. He can shower and go potty and walk to the bus stop and do his homework without being asked. He can run to the neighbor’s house and pour his own milk and operate the Wii better than I can. He knows how to do algebra and reads until late at night and knows about ancient Egypt. He is the tallest kid on the soccer team and knows how to steal the ball from the other players. He refuses to use the words “Mommy” and “Daddy” because the “eee on the end makes it sounds like baby talk.”

Please tell me. When did this happen? I feel like I blinked, and in place of my tiny happy baby is a big, happy boy. I’m so blessed to be his mom.

Happy weekend, everybody.

LOST: Sawyer as eye candy17 Mar 2010 03:35 pm

I wish I remembered more from previous seasons, i.e, who have we seen before. Have we seen Zoe? Have we seen the woman Sawyer arrested? And did anybody else think that Zoe looks like the actress who plays Rousseau? I thought for a second that it WAS her, and that she was time traveling or something. And yes, I realize that when TIME TRAVELING makes more sense than being a survivor of a plane crash, it means that this show has some serious issues. (more…)

And this is why I should pay OTHER people to RUN MY LIFE16 Mar 2010 10:21 pm

My master bathroom is ugly. It’s always been ugly. It’s “Hey, this house is great, but can we live with that bathroom?” ugly. It started out with paisley wallpaper. Did you get that? PAISLEY WALLPAPER.

There are no words for paisley wallpaper. People who ever ever thought paisley wallpaper was a good idea should burn forever in a hell where everybody wears blue eyeshadow and has to wear gowns with piping hot bowls of hair. (See Wiz’s post below) (more…)

Yes, I Still Watch Project Runway.15 Mar 2010 12:02 pm

….like I know you care.  And I haven’t really blogged this season because I can’t remember their names and I’m having a hard time getting into it as much.  However, a couple of things must be mentioned.  The “piping hot bowl of hair” chief among them. (TLo came up with that phrase, and I love it.  Still, I can’t take credit.) (more…)

March Madness Doldrums14 Mar 2010 08:14 pm

My bracket is incomplete; I’m clueless about the teams, the seeds or their opponents.  I don’t even know where the Final Four is this year.  Check my pulse or give me some medicine — something must be gravely wrong with me that the refrain of the CBS Sports music doesn’t cause me to do a jig in the middle of my living room floor.

My malaise may be driven by the fact that my alma mater sucked — a #2 seed last year, they fell into the abyss of basketball mediocrity.  My husband’s made it as a #7 seed and he is seriously gloating.

I can also attribute it to the fact that I will be in a mini-van with my family traveling half way across the country for spring break during the majority of the tournament.  I’m trading brackets and buzzer beaters for Colonial Williamsburg and The U. S. Capitol.  I suppose it is a far better tradeoff than neglecting my kids for three consecutive weekends.

But since I can’t cheer for my home team – I will be rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks. Because “Rock Chalk Jay-Hawk” is the best chant in college sports, even though I don’t have a clue what it means.

It’s still March Madness, baby, even if I’m a little less “mad” about it this year.

Still Needing Your Prayers12 Mar 2010 02:15 pm

Diana is the one on the right - just doing some clapping.

twins.jpg

She is still in the hospital and will probably be there for a while.  She is responding well to the antibiotics but her kidneys need some help, so they have begun the baby version of dialysis.  She went into cardiac arrest yesterday, but ever since then her heart and lungs have been functioning relatively well.  As you can tell, it’s very serious, and she needs your faith and your prayers.

Thank you.

A Whole Lotta Nothin’09 Mar 2010 07:30 pm

I’ve been in and out of MMW over the past few months — primarily because my PTA responsibilities have superseded EVERYTHING in my life (and when I have been back, I’ve just made everyone mad, so I had to hide out anyway!). (more…)

PLEASE.09 Mar 2010 06:35 pm

My niece Diana is in the hospital and criticallly ill with pneumonia, a staph infection, and other issues.  PLEASE PRAY!  She’s not yet 2, and has a twin sister who needs her.  Plus, the rest of us need her, too.  Thanks so much.

Drunk dialing the blog09 Mar 2010 12:37 am

Actually, I’m not drunk, but that’s what Tracy M calls it when it’s 2am and you can’t sleep and you decide to blog. And right now, I’m not sleeping. And it’s 2:10am. A traveling husband and a Diet Coke after 9pm is a bad combination. Add some YouTube surfing to the mix, and I may never sleep again.  (more…)
