Well, it seems that every single bug between here and California flung themselves at my windshield. It was unbelievable how nasty my windshield got, becuase hey - you know what? I jumped in the car and drove for six and a half hours by myself, and I loved it. And then the next day? I did it again.
I could belt along with the soundtrack to Wicked and nobody could tell me to be quiet. Mandy Patinkin sang to me for hours. I enjoyed all my nerdy music with no complaints from anybody. I could pass “rest stop” signs without asking if anyone needed to stop. I could wave to all the nice Border Patrol cops (and holy cow, there were a lot of them) and show them my clean car that hubby had cleaned for me. I didn’t buy a single happy meal, and “High School Musical” did not enter the CD player. It was fabulous.
Well, my butt did get a little numb, but that’s a small price to pay, really.
My sister (who, by the way, would look exactly like Brooke White if you threw a blonde wig on her) called me and told me they had an extra ticket to the play they were seeing and that I should totally come. My hubby’s company had decided to take Good Friday off, so he was home anyway. My parents were going to be there, my aunts, even jamisue. Hubby told me there was no reason not to go, so Friday morning I took off, saw a play and hung out Friday night, and Saturday morning I drove back. I think I might be a little crazy, but boy, did I feel grown up.
I know, I’m in my thirties and I have three children. That should make me feel grown up. And it does, but this totally did. I make no sense, I’m aware of it.
You know, I just don’t think I would have adventures if it weren’t for my sisters. (It might also have something to do with a certain actor that we stalk, but that’s a different story.)
My children have been home for two full weeks of Spring Break. I needed a little Spring Break of my own. And I got it.
School started today. Joy to the world. Joy to the WORLD. Joy to the fishies in the deep blue sea. Joy to you and me.
