I don’t want Claire to be dead. There, I said it.
I realy don’t have a lot to say about that episode, though. The time warp thing we knew, but hello, how come they found the dead doctor like, forever before he died, but then they heard the helicopter right after they took off? I mean, if they are going to mess with the time warp crap, then let’s at least be consistent. Sheesh.
And poor Locke. What a pathetic life. His flashbacks always make me a little sad.
WHO THE HECK is that creepy guy who keeps showing up on the mainland? We’ve seen him twice now–with Hurley, and now with Locke. Have we seen him again that I’ve forgotten about? Who is he? What does he want? Stupid plot twist.
And move the island? That makes no sense. Are they playing on some kind of “faith can move mountains” theme, and using John as the faithful one?
And why would the pilot want Jack and the others to follow him? To wage war against the soldiers?
I did love Hurley sharing a candy bar with Ben. Man, Hurley’s just awesome. And good horror stuff at the end, too. You got to give it to the writers. They sure are good at scary.
If any of you have good insights, please, share, because I’m all out.

Hello, I’m a new reader, but have a LOST thought. one thing you didn’t mention is the guy who came to the hospital when Locke was a baby, then to his house to bring him to the “special” school. He was also the guy who interviews Juliette to come work for them on the island. He was also there when Ben was a little kid on the island Is this guy immortal? He appears to be the same age in every scene. What’s up with that?
Comment #1 by SherrieMay 9th, 2008 at 9:44 amI think Claire almost has to be dead. I might have to go through and watch some of the older episodes, because I don’t remember where she might have died. I’m waiting for questions about Milo to be answered, because I find his character refreshing (sarcastic, a little creepy, and very intriguing).
Do we know if Christian is 100% definitely dead? Do we know what he was doing in Australia when he “died”?
Poor young Locke…I agree with you Heather, I feel bad for him. I’m hoping we get more out of the questions that Richard posed to Locke with the compass, sand, and knife. Why oh why did Richard get all uptight about the knife??
Ben/Hurley was spectacular last night - I know Ben won an Emmy, but I nominate Hurley as well.
Comment #2 by brandtMay 9th, 2008 at 9:57 amCRAP! I knew there was something I was supposed to be doing last night instead of the woot-off! Argh!
Comment #3 by mo mommyMay 9th, 2008 at 10:04 amOh well, I can just watch it online. Again.
Honestly I thought that the pilot was dropping that locator thing to warn Jack and the others that Keamy was back, and to give them a heads up so that they could hide before Keamy found them.
Comment #4 by KrisMay 9th, 2008 at 10:27 amI’m wondering if moving the island is something that Ben has done before, which is why Whidmore can’t find the island.
Did we already establish that Whidmore is behind the Dharma initiative as well? The secondary plan that Keamy unlocked had a Dharma logo on the title page.
I thought the phone drop was a bomb! Whew! What was the thingy on Keamy’s arm? A locator of some kind? If so, I guess the pilot is trying to help the beach crew out, but they still think they are being rescued even after the scientist and the annoying Charlotte have given them more than enough reason to doubt rescue.
We still don’t know who Jacob is either. For a minute I though Jack would see his “Dad” in the cabin again. But, no, it’s just some other dead people (I think Claire died in the house explosion).
I have always been befuddled with time travel plot. I’m having a hard time wrapping my brain around all the past, present and future.
Comment #5 by NuttyMay 9th, 2008 at 10:42 amGreat questions. I haven’t seen the whole thing through, but here is a link to one of my favorite “Lost” sites:

Comment #6 by AmyMay 9th, 2008 at 10:44 amI thought that Clair was looking a little smugg in this episode.
Didn’t the comic book, the guy had among the other items in the flashback about the special school, say something on the cover about a mystery island???
And it seams that the scientists and the piolot of the chopper really don’t want to hurt the islanders, the ghost whisperer dud said ‘I didn’t sing up for this’ when they found the french woman and Carl, and the chopper piolot I think was trying to warn them.
Don’t follow the chopper Jack.
And what does ‘your not supposed to raise him really mean’?
Hmmm, I watched the last two episodes back to back, so I may be mixing the two?
Oh one more thing…about that time travel stuff, why did we hear the chopper before we saw Siead (or however you spell that) with the little raft boat, when it appeard that he left hours (in the day light) before the chopper (in the night)????
Comment #7 by JSMay 9th, 2008 at 10:44 amI think the comic book was the same one that Walt was reading in the first season. The one that used to belong to Hurley. But I could be wrong on that, because wasn’t that comic book in Spanish? I have no idea. I am rambling. LOST makes my brain hurt.
Comment #8 by KrisMay 9th, 2008 at 11:05 amWhew, I made it. I had to carefully scroll past the actual post and all the comments so not to read any spoilers. Here in Cincinnati, Lost is aired at 10:00 pm. Me and my hubby are in no mood to stay up until 11 to watch it. We’re tired folks with a lot of kids! Give us a break! So we always watch Lost on Friday nights, on ABC.com.
My only complaint is that because I’m a frequent reader of MMW and I subscribe to your feed, I have to carefully avoid your Friday posts about Lost.
I just wanted to get that of my chest. I guess I’ll just have to continue to carefully tiptoe around MMW on Fridays. As nothing much can stop the water cooler talk.
Comment #9 by apple pieMay 9th, 2008 at 11:18 amLet’s see. The creepy guy that showed up to talk to Hurley and Locke (the one who told Locke to go on the walkabout) is the guy that gave Naomi the pictures of the scientists that were joining her on the trip. That’s the only other time I remember seeing him.
I think the pilot dropped the phone to have Jack follow them - because that guy was going to blow up/burn the island. The thing on his arm has something to do with that (since he told the captain that he didn’t want to be shooting him). The pilot wants people to come STOP the guy from killing everyone.
Claire’s got to be dead because otherwise, she wouldn’t leave Aaron. Seriously. There is no way she would if she was still alive/in her right mind.
I had a ton of other questions last night but I can’t remember them now.
Comment #10 by Erin MarieMay 9th, 2008 at 11:19 amThis was my only thought about Lost last night…and it’s way out in left field, but so is Lost…
As I was thinking about the Island and how it’s this special magical Island who heals people (or makes them sick, in Ben’s case) and is the cause of million dollar escapades and cover ups I was thinking maybe this is going to take some sort of Super Hero twist…and then the guidance counselor tells Locke that he can’t be a super hero and the comic book thing. Maybe this is the place where people get their “powers” and discover their potential…or something. Like I said left field, but last night it seemed sorta plausible.

Choppers go faster than boats.
Time warp:
The same day Locke and Ben were looking for the cabin was the day after Jack had his surgery. We already know there’s at least 1-2 days difference between the boat and the island, so the dr. thing makes sense.
For sure Claire is dead.
I don’t think they’re supposed to follow the chopper. I think he did that (just as Kris said) so they would stay away from them, and Sayid will verify that when he lands on the beach and starts taking people to the boat (TRYING to take people to the boat–excuse me.
).
I loved the Locke flashbacks. Makes more sense now that we know he was “chosen” to go to the island and it’s interesting how hard the island or the island people tried to get him there throughout his life.
I want Desmond to save everyone. He’s my hero and I Heart Desmond! I can’t wait to see what he ends up doing…
Comment #12 by cherylMay 9th, 2008 at 12:50 pmI love Hurley too. He brings things back to reality a little bit, which I appreciate because I love Lost, but it’s getting a little too crazy weird for me.
Comment #13 by KristyMay 9th, 2008 at 1:04 pmI think they will move the island in time…not in actual location. Maybe that’s what happens when the sky turns purple??
They didn’t hear the helicopter when it took off they heard it when it approached the beach. We don’t know how much time elapsed between when it took off and when it got to the beach.
Comment #14 by CrystalMay 9th, 2008 at 2:02 pmSorry, Apple Pie. I don’t mean to give spoilers. I always watch it Firday mornings on ABC. com. It’s up that early.
I did forget to mention Richard. I have no idea what he is up to.
I like the idea of moving the island in time. Good one.
Comment #15 by Heather O.May 9th, 2008 at 5:23 pmStop with the spoilers already!! Can’t you people be nice and just give the post the title of “Lost” and not any bonus info that could spoil stuff?
By the way, I’m not really angry.
See my nice smile. Things just come off so rude this way.
Comment #16 by apple pieMay 9th, 2008 at 6:03 pmIn just a little tiny, itsy bitsy way, Miles reminds me of Dale on Top Chef. In the Asian dude, angry, sarcastic, bad attitude, but top skillz kinda way. Maybe I am just watching too much TV.
Do you think we will ever see Mr. Eko again?
Miggy, I liked your thoughts. I see a lot of connections with comics/super heroes/Fantastic Four. Like super heroes, each of the Lost characters has potential for great power, but also displays a tragic flaw or a hidden past that haunts them.
Comment #17 by BridgetMay 9th, 2008 at 7:49 pmI am so confused, but enjoying my confusion. The Claire thing creeped me out. She seemed very un-Claire like. Agh! I don’t know WHAT to think.
Comment #18 by SueMay 9th, 2008 at 11:39 pmDid anyone catch at the very beginning of the episode, Lockes Grandma telling his mother “he is too old for you! and she said But I love him!”
Comment #19 by themotherboardMay 10th, 2008 at 11:15 amDo you think that the creepy guy that shows up at the hospital (and subsequently recruits Juliet, and tells Locke to kill his father.. and also shows up at various times in Lockes life) is really his father?
#19- Nothing in the show has eluded to that, but it’s a cool theory. That would mean that, not only did Locke’s mom trick him into giving his “dad” a kidney, but she tricked him about who his father was, period.
The guy with the blue eyes doesn’t age. He is one of the original “others”. Remember, there were Dharma people and others. Dharma people were murdered. Then there were others and plane crash people, with a few randoms sprinkled in. None of the original others age. And I believe they are the crew of the Black Rock. How many times do I have to say it? Charles Widmore is connected to them. He hates Ben for taking over the island and the crew. One day you will all bow down before my greatness.
