Without my children. I left on a jet plane and took off for the weekend to giggle and laugh and talk and eat too much chocolate with the Segullah girls. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in a long time.
I took the red eye back, which usually makes you feel like your entire body has been beaten with a stick. Then I was up most of the night with a grumpy baby and a squirmy 6 year old, who was sleeping with me because my nephew and his cousin decided to visit and we were all squishing. So in other words, I haven’t been blogging because I’m totally wasted.
It was worth it, though. So worth. But I have to say sorry to Emily M, who thought I was short and just a bit chubby. Didn’t mean to disappoint, babe.
I’ll be back soon. After I sleep. For a long, long time.

I am so jealous. I was supposed to do that VERY thing last week, had a plane ticket and everything, and came down with the flu the day before. Totally wasted, much sleeping, and no hanging-out with teh girls to show for it.
Sorry to delurk just to whine, but I think I mentioned some jealousy there.

Comment #2 by The WizJune 30th, 2008 at 1:11 pm“too much chocolate”.
What does this mean? I don’t understand these words used in this order.
Comment #3 by ellenJune 30th, 2008 at 3:16 pmYou’ve always been skinny to me. I believe vixen is the right word…
Comment #4 by JustineJune 30th, 2008 at 3:43 pmSay what now? When did I say I thought you were short and chubby? Okay, now I’m remembering. It’s all those posts about how fat you say you are post-partum that I mentioned. The maternity swimsuit post, for example–can you blame me for expecting someone who looked a wee bit chunky when you have blogged about it like that? Face it, girl, you are skinny, and you have NO street cred among fat people. Whatsoever. Your secret’s out.
Comment #5 by Emily M.June 30th, 2008 at 4:18 pmLOL! I didn’t realize it was a secret–I just thought it was sort of funny that one of the first things you said to me, Emily, was “Hey, you look good! You’re not fat at all!” or something like that. But it’s all good.
Comment #6 by Heather O.June 30th, 2008 at 4:43 pmAh, now I’m blushing. Way to make a first impression, Emily. All those excellent social skills I possess at work. It was so fun to get to know you in person, though–I am really glad you braved the redeye flight and came.
Comment #7 by Emily M.June 30th, 2008 at 4:51 pmOh, Emily, no, you made a GREAT first impression. I didn’t mean to make you blush–it was fantastic! It was sort of in that awkward moment when everybody was trying to identify who was how based only on avatars, so you were totally fine. I also said something like, “Hey, you’re blonde!” to Angela because hey, I thought she wasn’t. Weird, I know.
Comment #8 by Heather O.June 30th, 2008 at 5:19 pmWhew! This is why real-life interactions are better than online ones–you get the whole tone of voice thing better. All my insecurities multiply online, you know? forgive the blush. I really loved talking with you; I hope you can make the trek out next year too (I’m getting greedy–one visit and I feel entitled to more
)
Comment #9 by Emily M.June 30th, 2008 at 5:58 pmYou got totally wasted? Man, I guess Segullah folks are a lot more hard core than I thought.
