Ubercool. That man can read the white pages and I would still feel the spirit. What an awesome talk last night. Simply awesome. Anybody else catch it?

Yes! He *was* uber cool. It’s so great to know that the First Presidency is totally aware of us and knows what we struggle with and desire to support us in our challenges. It was an awesome meeting.
And is it bad to say that Pres. Uchtdorf is dang handsome, too?
Comment #1 by StarababaSeptember 28th, 2008 at 12:57 pmPres Uchtdorf truly is ubercool and inspirational. I loved his talk last night - it was like he was speaking directly to me. I loved his thoughts on creation and compassion.
Comment #2 by Michelle AMSeptember 28th, 2008 at 1:16 pmY’all just dig his accent. OK, there’s more, but I’m a guy, so I’m not going there.
Oh, and his talk was awesome - based on my own impressions, but even more based on my wife’s.
Comment #3 by RaySeptember 28th, 2008 at 1:25 pmIt was a fabulous talk. It made me really glad I bothered with going to watch the broadcast this year.
Comment #4 by kaduseySeptember 28th, 2008 at 2:00 pmYes, it was awesome,
yes, he is handsome, (no, it’s not bad to say that. At least, as long as we just leave it at that)
yes i dig his accent,
But most of all, yes he is a phenomenal speaker–I love his anecdotes and how he seamlessly weaves his message with them. My fave talk ever, from RS broadcasts.
The post on Segullah about it was great too.
Comment #5 by mellocelloSeptember 28th, 2008 at 3:24 pmI felt the Spirit so strongly during his talk! His talk is what stood out to me too. All the ladies in RS today were noting the same.
Comment #6 by MaddisonSeptember 28th, 2008 at 3:32 pmI agree. The talk was killer. (The accent, and the handsomeness don’t hurt, either.)
Comment #7 by JustRandiSeptember 28th, 2008 at 3:47 pmI love his empathy!
It was amazing. Am I the only one who wanted to put every other line in vinyl lettering and put it on a wall somewhere? That was FULL of one-liners.
Comment #8 by mimiSeptember 28th, 2008 at 4:05 pmI think it will go down as one of the best talkes ever given at a women’s conference. It was nourishing. I loved it.
Comment #9 by wbprawSeptember 28th, 2008 at 4:31 pmMe too on all that has been said on Elder Uchtdorf. I laughed, I saw myself in his words, I felt the Spirit, and I thought about creation in a new way.
I have to say that I really liked Sister Beck’s talk as well. After her first talk in GC that everyone was up in arms over, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But you know, I liked her boldness last night. I like that she says, “There is more to be done.” Only a woman could say it, and I think she’s right.
Comment #10 by Mrs MSeptember 28th, 2008 at 4:41 pmThank you! Our lesson in Relief Society was on a completely different topic and I tried unsuccessfully to come up with a way to start discussing his remarks. I’ve never felt the spirit more strongly while listening to a talk.
Comment #11 by AhnaSeptember 28th, 2008 at 5:33 pmI loved ALL the talks last night; but I have to agree that Pres. Uchtdorf hit it out of the park. In fact, I didn’t have time to write hardly any notes about it because I was so enthralled by what he was saying! In fact, you can tell by how much I loved it because I made hubby watch it today.
Comment #12 by cherylSeptember 28th, 2008 at 6:20 pmAmen, Amen, Amen! Definately a grand slam… loved EVERY word. I also loved Julie Beck’s talk. I’m not sure what it is about her, but I just feel like I can connect with her on so many levels. I’ve loved every talk I’ve ever heard her give… (even the one that many people had issues with.) I can’t tell you how badly I needed all those messages last night!
Comment #13 by christySeptember 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pmPresident Uchtdorf is an absolutely brilliant man. When I heard that he was picked as a counselor for President Monson, I cried. When I lived in Germany, the people there were unlike any I had ever lived around. They are kind and generous and he encompasses all of that in his loving personality. He speaks from the heart and it has meaning to everyone. His talk was exactly what I needed at this point in my life. The spirit filled my soul and I realized what I was supposed to get out of this session. President Uchtdorf is a truly great man.
Comment #14 by KayceSeptember 29th, 2008 at 1:35 amI agree with Mimi and the vinyl letters! After it was over, I just kept hearing women say “I needed that” - I know I needed it. His words were very well put and I have a feeling that he is the one who needed to say them so that we would get it!
Comment #15 by JoleneSeptember 29th, 2008 at 8:20 amHis was absolutely my favorite. He just has a way of putting things!
Comment #16 by Molly DoeSeptember 29th, 2008 at 9:53 amVinyl letter here, too. “Take a space and beautify it.” I’ve decided that instead of cleaning my house, I need to “beautify” it. And I DO want that on a vinyl letter plaque. (Though I hate having the sterotypical mormon decor.) I’m off to beautify.
Comment #17 by wonder womanSeptember 29th, 2008 at 9:53 amI’m having serious envy. I couldn’t get my computer to stream the audio.
At least I figured out there was a problem before next weekend. Plenty of time to fix it.
Comment #18 by JamiSeptember 29th, 2008 at 9:59 amditto. it was awesome.
Comment #19 by MelSeptember 29th, 2008 at 12:22 pmvery cool. I most appreciated the unfeigned empathy for the inner-challenges of motherhood/womanhood. Right on the mark.
Comment #20 by Steph @ Diapers and DivinitySeptember 29th, 2008 at 1:49 pmI must confess that when I found out that Pres. Eyring wasn’t going to speak, I was disappointed. I love him. But, holy moley, I LOVED Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk. It was amazing, and everyone I have talked to feels the same. So glad I went!
Comment #21 by Heather BSeptember 29th, 2008 at 2:21 pmI ended up attending the broadcast alone. That, coupled with my meds being off did not make for a pleasant evening. However, as I listened to him speak, I felt as though he were talking just to me, just for me, and saying the exact things I needed to hear to pull out of my funk. And I did.
I wish so much that it were easier for us women to focus on what we have done instead of what’s left on the list of things to do. We are so strong and so amazing, and why wouldn’t we be? We are daughters of the most Supreme Being, are we not?
I know that in the past year or so I have felt a greater pull to make sure we are all “safely gathered in”, to check on my Sisters near and far and make sure we are all doing ok and going to make it. I hope other women are feeling this, too.
Comment #22 by SallyGirlSeptember 30th, 2008 at 10:22 am[…] And speaking of General Conference, girlfriends, if you have not watched President Uchtdorf’s talk from the General Relief Society broadcast…DO IT! I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite talk of all time. Like Heather O. on Mormon Mommy Wars said, “That man can read the white pages and I would still feel the Spirit.” Dude, totally. […]
