Little Man officially qualified for speech therapy today! Hallelujah and amen!
The meeting began with the typical “here’s this score, and yes, it’s low, but not low enough” etc. etc. and I was gathering up my mama bear speech, until we got to THIS score, and it definitely qualifies him, so….Yippie-ki-yay, we HAVE an IEP!
Let’s hear it for dysfluency! (Stuttering). It’s not EXACTLY what I wanted him treated for, I was hoping for more language comprehension, but that will be part of the therapy, because it always is, and she knows his scores were low in that area. So hey, if he stuttered a lot for her, and it got him some services, good for him. And if he needs his disfluency treated, then great, treat away.
I am really hopeful. We’ll see how it goes, I don’t want to count any chickens, but at least he’s not coasting along with a “let’s see if he grows out of it” approach that I’ve been hearing for so long.
Also, my (old) dog does not need meds for the rest of her life after her seizure last week as previously conjectured. A round of antibiotics should do it. I thought I was facing the decision as to whether or not I would have to put her down, but…nope! Her quality of life should be high, for the next few years, anyway. I mean, she is 11.
It’s been a good day.
