whatserbucket creeps into the room quietly, stepping over the young bodies strewn about. Waiting for the breathing to once again regain the steady rhythm only deep sleep can bring, she fills her own lungs and with all the energy she can muster and screams,
“HEY TWILIGHT FANS - WHATCHYA GONNA DO FOR THE DVD RELEASE????”
Amidst the ensuing frenzy, whatserbucket craftily withdraws from the room, giggling under her breath.
But seriously… it’s only a month away.

You are so evil. So very very evil.
Comment #1 by Heather O.February 20th, 2009 at 12:17 pmI’ve read all the books. I have not seen the Twilight movie yet and I’m not sure I want to. I enjoyed the books so much that I’m afraid the movies will ruin it for me. Was the movie any good? Did it do the book justice? Other wise, I’m not going to bother.
Comment #2 by CarolynFebruary 20th, 2009 at 12:47 pmCarolyn,
Only you can answer that question for yourself.
Comment #3 by MiggyFebruary 20th, 2009 at 1:13 pmI’m still trying to figure out whether to read the books. I don’t generally read pot boilers, and no one’s said anything yet to make me want to change my mind. (Especially not the content of MMW’s original Twilight thread, since squeals don’t count as literary criticism. But then, I’m a snob.)
Comment #4 by ResearcherFebruary 20th, 2009 at 1:21 pmResearcher- The Twilight series books are kind of like eating a chocolate sundae everyday- or multiple times each day- and if you’re a health nut (aka, a literary snob/critic/whatever) then they might not be for you. But if you don’t mind indulging in your squealy-girly-teenage self for a little while, then go for it! It’s like a vacation for your mind.
Carolyn- I wasn’t so sure about the movie the first time I saw it, but the second time I appreciated it more. There were definitely some golden moments that were left out, but there were some humorous additions I thought, and I also thought that the whole atmosphere of the movie (music and lighting) were really well-done and true to the book.
But that’s just me! Personally, I’m going to use my SwagBucks to get the Amazon.com gift certificates that I’ll use to pre-order the movie. I’ve already used them to get both soundtracks (I love music!). I’m not as obsessed these days as I was when I first read the series, but the squealy teenage girl in me still comes out every now and then to giggle a bit.
Comment #5 by KaseyQFebruary 20th, 2009 at 1:57 pmIf I had not read the books nor seen the movie I would usually go for the books knowing what movie scripts usually leave out. However I still haven’t seen the movie for this one, and I am not sure I will. Hubby might ask embarrassing questions.
Comment #6 by mormonhermitmomFebruary 20th, 2009 at 1:57 pmMy sister liked it, my mom loved it, most of my friends loved it, even my dad liked it. (Mom, “drug” him . . . maybe drugged him.)
I think I may be the only living person on the planet that disliked the movie (all others have been silenced). Seeing the movie even made me question why I liked the books so much. Great/intriguing story, a bit, ok, VERY mushy/cheesy. Like KaseyQ said, ” But if you don’t mind indulging in your squealy-girly-teenage self for a little while, then go for it! It’s like a vacation for your mind.” We call it brain candy. The books are fun, if you can handle the writing. My initial read of the books had me hooked . . . Love at first sight. I don’t know what happened. Sorry, Twilight, “It’s not you, It’s me.”
Please, no stringing me up for this. If you love it, then by all means love it. I am sure there are plenty of movies I love that y’all dislike. I just needed to get this out somewhere. To each her own. You say toe-may-toe, I say I won’t be buying it.
Comment #7 by RachymareeFebruary 20th, 2009 at 2:44 pmOnly seven comments? Hm…a few more Twilight Sucks, Twilight Rocks comments and that should bring out the girlies.
Comment #8 by JamiFebruary 20th, 2009 at 3:13 pmOr you could refer to us as “girlies”. That might get us out.
Comment #9 by whatserbucketFebruary 20th, 2009 at 3:18 pmYou’d think, living with 3 teen girls as I do, that this would have been on my radar screen already. But I had no idea this was coming. Sounds like I can stop wondering what we’re doing for spring break.
(Sad - I know!)
Comment #10 by JustRandiFebruary 20th, 2009 at 3:30 pmI love the books, but have yet to see the movie. I wasn’t able to get tickets the opening weekend, living in Provo where it was probably bigger than Harry Potter (ok, maybe not, but close!), and after hearing all the reviews (critics, family, friends) I decided not to spend $10 plus snacks at the theater, and just wait until it came out on video and get it in the Redbox… I’m just not really willing to spend more than $1 on something nobody I talked to seemed to like. Of course, I may love it, but I’m still willing to wait.
Comment #11 by AmandaFebruary 20th, 2009 at 6:00 pmI was hooked from the first page of the first book and was having a hard time waiting for the next book’s release and then the next. I went to the movie to see how closely it followed the story and it did not disappoint. I saw it a second time just to enjoy it (rather than analyze like I did the first time) and again wasn’t disappointed. It’s a fun story. Period. I have even overheard teenage girls who saw the movie go into the book store and decide to buy the book and read it ’cause they liked the movie so much.
So in answer to the question, “what are you going to do for the dvd release” I can say with 99% accuracy that I’ll be watching it next door with my sister-in-law on her huge HDTV with all our girl friends and make a big fat girly night of it! Can’t wait!
Comment #12 by KamiFebruary 20th, 2009 at 8:06 pmI just want to know where you did that, whatsherbucket, and what happened the next morning. Come on, let’s hear the rest of the story. I would’ve had huge revenge plans if I’d have been there, but it is really funny.
Comment #13 by StarababaFebruary 20th, 2009 at 8:29 pmI have already pre-ordered mine and am getting psyched up for it. I love the books; I love the movie. I am just one of those over excited nuts.
Comment #14 by Amy Btw MFebruary 20th, 2009 at 9:14 pmGoing to be in Ft. Worth with a friend and my kids. We both plan on dragging the kids to the store so we can buy it. Then, a friend is trying to plan a Twilight party and invite us and some of her Sunday school girls!
Comment #15 by AdrianeFebruary 21st, 2009 at 12:23 amI’ll be letting the teenage boy somewhere inside of me out for this release, and while ya’ll are squealing about the movie I’ll be reading the articles in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
Comment #16 by JohnFebruary 21st, 2009 at 3:45 amIf you pre-order throught the store Hot Topix, you will recieve 2 invitations to their Twilight Prom Night, and recieve your DVD at midnight. Here they are taking over one section of the mall and my girls are so excited.
Comment #17 by CDFebruary 21st, 2009 at 8:32 amI’m sure I’ll watch it with my friends who are obsessed wth it, to show my support and remember why I love my friends so much. I think it’s awesome that they get so exctied about it. It’s like being young again you know? It’s a fun little movie. The music is pretty rockin.
Comment #18 by mellocelloFebruary 21st, 2009 at 8:43 amSorry, the store is Hot Topic, hit the wrong key.
Comment #19 by CDFebruary 21st, 2009 at 9:31 amFour daughters and a wife who LOVE the books and only one of whom didn’t adore the movie (she wrote a hilarious review of the movie - linked it on the other thread - here it is again. (http://walkingonsunshine72.blogspot.com/2008/11/rotten-apples.html)
I liked the movie, since I went into it with no expectations. We obviously will be getting it as soon as it hits the shelves.
Oh, and I can’t wait for the word to hit the teenage fan clubs about this post. I haven’t been as entertained on any thread since “Adventures in Arizona” as I was on the other Twilight post here.
Comment #20 by RayFebruary 21st, 2009 at 10:17 amI expected the movie to not be too amazing. By the end of it, I felt embarrassed for a lot of it, even with low expectations. I mean, people were saying it was the next Harry Potter, which was waaaaay off. That being said, I had a great time watching it and I was giggly and hyper the whole time.
But I really hope the next one has better special effects.
I’m a big fan, but I don’t think I’ll buy the DVD. Plus, every other girl I know will have it.
Comment #21 by HilaryFebruary 21st, 2009 at 12:06 pmOMGawsh, I’m TOTALLY going to rent it, and we’re going to watch it at my friend’s house who has the big screen TV and get lots of popcorn and treats and squeal like little girls when Edward comes on screen and we’re going to boo James and we’re going to SWOON over Jacob, even though, he’s like, 12, and, like, TOTALLY WRONG for Bella, although poor Jacob, I mean, did you know he’s not a werewolf at all but really a SHAPESHIFTER (AAAAAH!) and then we’re going to eat MORE treats until we’re totally SICK and then we’re going to lie on our backs and laugh and laugh and laugh because Edward is SO HAWT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait. That acutally sounds kinda fun….
Comment #22 by Heather O.February 21st, 2009 at 3:48 pmHave already pre-ordered the Blu-ray version through bestbuy.com, LOL… got to use some of our reward bucks toward it, too, which made it a DOUBLE happy thing! So I’ll just waltz in at my leisure, show my ID at the counter, and walk out with my happy, FUN, campy, girly movie… which I think Hubby may actually enjoy, too, because yes, we are SO watching it that day. I won’t tattle if he likes it, though!
Comment #23 by kannieFebruary 21st, 2009 at 3:53 pmstill haven’t seen it, maybe I’ll borrow it from one of the million people in my ward that are going to buy it the first day. Maybe by the following week they’ll be ready to loan it out, or not. Oh well I waited this long to see it I can wait another month or two ( and yes I read all the books and loved them, just not sure about the movies)
Comment #24 by ModdyFebruary 21st, 2009 at 6:48 pmJust watched it last night. Have not read the book. I’m more interested in reading it now. My hubby said it was a chick flick. First vampire action chick flick I’ve ever heard of.
Comment #25 by SarahFebruary 21st, 2009 at 8:54 pmI just saw the movie this weekend at the dollar theater. Loved it. I love silly, sentimental, romantic, ultra-cheesy movies, and it was right up my alley. (It’s up there with A Walk to Remember.)
I liked it a lot more than the book. In the movie you don’t get all of Bella’s whining thoughts about how lame she is and doesn’t deserve such a beautiful, perfect guy like Edward, which in the book only made me think one thing: how right she was.
Comment #26 by Susan MFebruary 22nd, 2009 at 8:04 pmI loved the books. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but do think that it is a good idea to have a Twlight party with my girlfriends. I am a total geek with the romance stuff….
My BIL saw it not knowing that it was a chick flick. He said it was horrible since there wasn’t any real blood or guts or anything. He was so disappointed. Silly guy…
