And I just can’t really figure out who the bad guy is.
Is it Charles Widmore? Is it Ben? Are they both evil and John is gonna beat them both in an ultimate island smackdown? But they both want John, they BOTH say that he is special, and Ben was all lovey dovey “I’m talking to a psycho” voice, up until Ben mentioned Eloise Hawking. I mean, why bother saving John from suicide just to kill him? There was something about Eloise Hawking’s name that triggered the evil Ben. Or maybe Ben is just evil all the time, and just REALLY good at fooling even us. Or maybe we’re all just stupid for believing Ben YET AGAIN, and should just listen to Eloise and Christian when they tell us Ben is evil.
I guess what I’m saying is that at the end of the day, I just don’t get it.
But how cool was it to see Walt? So glad they don’t leave that hanging, although John’s “The boy’s been through enough” seemed like a pretty lame reason to leave him in the States. Like Jack and Kate and Sun haven’t been through enough? Like John hasn’t been through enough? Whatever. But didn’t he look good. He looked good, right? And I think he gave us a little foreshadowing there, with the whole, “I dreamed you were getting your trashed kicked on a beach wearing a suit” bit. Gotta love that Walt.
One more thing. I still don’t get why BEN had to go back to island, and how come he didn’t disappear with the others. Methinks the island just isn’t all that please with Ben. Although, come to think of it, how come the smoke monster hasn’t gotten Ben if he’s evil? We need more about the smoke monster, definitely, and I for one would love to see it drag Ben far far away.
Still so many more questions. But then if we knew everything, JJ Abrams would be out of a job. And in this economy, he’d be screwed.

I think what triggered Ben to turn on John was the fact that he mentioned Jin was still alive, and that he promised not to bring Sun back. I think Ben knew if he told Sun that Jin was alive, she’d come back for sure, thus completing the “mission”.
I loved seeing Walt, too! I always knew there would be more to his story, especially after his step-dad went on about how weird stuff would happen with Walt around. I’m sure we’ll hear more about his dreams!
I don’t know if Ben HAD to go back…but that plane was definitely the quickest way to get there. And why doesn’t Ben get bloody noses etc. if he’s been there so long? I can understand why Widmore wouldn’t want to go back and get a bloody nose…okay I know he was exiled…whatever that’s about.
K, someone remind me where Michael is. It’s been a while.
Comment #1 by HilaryFebruary 26th, 2009 at 3:26 pmMy theory is that Ben is actually the GOOD guy. There’s no way Widmore is the good guy, and they just made it WAY too easy to hate Ben after what he did to Locke. I think Ben had to off Locke to help with the “sacrifice” Christian said he’d have to make in order to get everyone back and to save his dear and precious island. My bet is that John’s not mad at all at Ben. It’s all part of the plan, baby.
Comment #2 by TrishFebruary 26th, 2009 at 3:40 pmOh, and Michael (most likely) went down the the freighter. We last saw him right before all that C4 exploded in his face.
It’s times like this that I’m glad I stopped watching Lost. My husband and I were watching the last season finale and I said to him, “You know, I just really don’t care anymore.” I laughed when he immediately agreed. (We were TOTALLY into it) We haven’t watched since.
Comment #3 by MarianneFebruary 26th, 2009 at 4:08 pmIt just got to be too much. Too bizarre. Too much to keep track of. I was done. You know how in the cartoons they put a carrot in front of an animal to get it to walk? Well, I finally realized that I was never going to get that carrot.
My theory is that Ben and Widmore are both evil men in their own individual hateful ways, each trying only to beat the other one into oblivion so they can have the island all to their precious selves (because, obviously, they both are able to manipulate John Locke fairly easily…Man it up, John!)
What was it about mentioning Eloise to Ben that triggered his murdering spree there with John? If they don’t explain that one, I will be upset.
I am curious who these new people on the island are, and who they’re working for. It doesn’t seem to be Ben (but he’s fooled us before). Perhaps it’s Widmore. Perhaps it’s an unknown third party.
Which woman was it that Frank took off with in the boat? We know it’s not Kate. Was it Sun? Are they the ones that are going to be shooting (were shooting?) at the boat of time-skippers a couple episodes ago?
Oh, Walt. I sure hope that secretly John believed you about your dreams.
Comment #4 by kaduseyFebruary 26th, 2009 at 5:17 pmI think you are right. Widmore and Ben are bad. John is the chosen one and they are jealous. That is my lame theory. I remember in the season re-cap, the writers were saying that John and Jack were two sides of the same person or personality. So, I guess we will see.
Comment #5 by KatieFebruary 26th, 2009 at 6:22 pmJack = man of science
John = man of faith
Right? Also, has anyone else been tracking the way the shadows fall on the character’s faces? When they are “under the spell” of the island, half of their face is in shadow. When they are not, their face is fully lit. Might have been obvious to everyone else but I found it interesting!

Comment #7 by BridgetFebruary 26th, 2009 at 7:32 pmI’m just getting mad. I can’t keep track of who’s where when. Who’s dead? Who’s alive? Who’s alive pretending to be dead? Who’s dead pretending to be alive? Who’s in carge of whom and what makes them so special anyway? And why the heck do they have to go back? To save everyone? Why does that save evryone? Why didn’t they crash the second time? Why can’t sweet jj go back and read what he’s written before he shoots another episode? Why do I keep watching? I WANT ANSWERS, D#*@it!!
Comment #8 by wbprawFebruary 26th, 2009 at 7:41 pmI think that Ben and Widmore are BOTH evil.
I think that Ben was going to keep Locke alive until he found out how he was planning on getting back to the island….once he found out (e.g. Eloise Hawking) then Locke had served his purpose and was expendable. But his body still had to go on the plane in order to “recreate” the situation. Ben didn’t know about Christian’s father’s shoes though, and maybe those will be important? I’m pretty sure Locke can’t die now though…and shouldn’t he be wandering around in the jungle like Christian and all the other people who have passed on yet still show up?
Ben is pure evil though. I hope that the week after next week tells what happened to Desmond & Penny & L’il Charlie!
Comment #9 by AmyFebruary 26th, 2009 at 8:12 pm“…why bother saving John from suicide just to kill him? ”
That is exactly what I said and then my husband was like, “Jeez obviously he never intended on ’saving’ John, he was just trying to get a name.” I’m sure Ben knew John had to die for the 6 to return, he needed to know the next step and conveniently it wasn’t hard to make it look like a suicide because he came in at just the right moment.
Comment #10 by randajoyFebruary 26th, 2009 at 10:38 pmI think Ben was waiting just until he found out how John was going to get back to the island, and then killed him.
I’m also wondering if Ben maybe knew that the Island wasn’t going to let John Kill himself, so he had to be murdered.
Have you noticed that very few on the island die unless they are murdered?? Off the top of my head I can only think of 2 and one is from the flashy thing.
And we still didn’t find out how everyone decided to go back to the island. And why on earth would Sayid be arrested and be taken to Guam???
Comment #11 by SarahFebruary 27th, 2009 at 5:38 am“And why on earth would Sayid be arrested and be taken to Guam???”
My guess is that somehow it is that way because the flight had to resemble the original flight as much as possible…so maybe Ben set it up like that to take the place of Kate on the original flight.
That’s what I first thought.
Comment #12 by JSFebruary 27th, 2009 at 7:54 amOh and that Sayid would have never gone back to the island on his own…
Comment #13 by JSFebruary 27th, 2009 at 7:55 amFinally! Someone mentioned my theory as to why Ben offed John. He was waiting to get the info he needed. Ben doesn’t know how to get back to the island, and needed the name. I just want to know how everyone just “decided” to go back in the episode before this. John wasn’t that convincing, and like Whidmore said, it’s been three years and they all have lives now. I have way more questions than answers, and I just CAN’T leave that carrot hanging there.
Comment #14 by KimFebruary 27th, 2009 at 3:55 pmYay for LOST! Here are my theories:
-Ben and Widmore= Both evil and want the island for themselves and are trying to use ANYONE to do so.
-Ben waited for John to give him the name of the person who would get the Oceanic 6 (and in turn, himself) back to the island.
-I also think that Ben thought that the island would “take him back” like the rest of the O6, but obviously NOT.
My question is what’s going to happen to these new set of LOSTIES…are they going to play a role in this island-smackdown war??
GOOD STUFF!
Comment #15 by EmmeMarch 1st, 2009 at 2:14 amThe wife and I are huge LOST fans. I wonder if the “second group” of Losties aren’t really on the Dharma island at all.
