I mean, boy, don’t Juliet and Sawyer clean up nice?

While watching the show, I had the following conversation with DH, who missed half of last season and is waiting for the DVD.

DH:  “What’s happening now?”

“Well, Kate, Sayid, Sawyer, Jin, Jack, and Hurley are all stuck in 1977.  But Sun and Lapedis are somehow stuck in present day.”

Then Christian came on the screen, and DH said, “Who’s that?”

“Jack’s dad.  Christian Shepherd.”

“Jack’s dad?  I thought Jack’s dad was dead!  And his name is ‘Christian Shepherd’?  Cute.”

“Yeah, well, he is dead, but nobody is really dead on the island.”

“I thought everybody got off the island.  Why are they back on?”

I started to explain about Daniel Faraday, his mother, Charlotte, how Ben moved the island but wasn’t supposed to, how Locke left the island too, but ended up in Tunisia, and when I was finished, DH looked at me and said, “Wow.  That show has gotten really stupid.”

Indeed.

But I did like how clean Juliet and Sawyer looked, and Juliet’s hair was absolutely gorgeous.  Makes me want to grow mine out again.  And Sawyer is really coming into his own, which either means he’s most comfortable when he’s conning people, or he really does have some linked with the island fate thing going on.

And did Jack really give up control that easily?  That would be nice, actually, to just watch Jack go with the flow, and have Sawyer do all the angsting for once.  Jack’s angst totally bugs me.

And speaking of hair, Kate’s looked awesome too, and not only did seeing her also make me want to have long hair again, but it also made me want to hit the gym.  Did you see her arms?  Sheesh, she and Michelle Obama need to do a work out video together or something.

Not a lot of stuff revealed this time–we already knew that Sun and Lapides had left on a boat, although it was nice to see Sun clock Ben.  He’s not having a particularly healthy week there, is he.

I still don’t understand why Christian is around, and I don’t have a clue as to why Sun can’t flash back to 1977.  But it was kind of cool to see Sayid meet teenage Ben.  Does that explain why Ben has been so obsessed with all of them from the beginning?  Because he’s already met them?  And how ’bout the smile Juliet pasted on her face when she met evil Ethan as a baby?  That was a clever little twist.  DH liked that part, because that particular actress is in the current season of 24 DH is catching up on.

We do a lot of catch up around here, ’cause we’re slow like that.

Other thoughts, fellow Losties?
