1. The 2 brothers look and act alike. I’m having a hard time telling them apart. The battle of the siblings isn’t doing much for me, at this point. Maybe it’ll get more interesting? But man, I wanted that guacamole macaroon thing.
2. None of the women seem to be really awesome, with the exception of Jen. She’ll be around for a while, but she might stand the lone woman with a bunch of men who like to jump in the pool. It’s OK, she can handle it.
3. Adding a $15,000 incentive to the quickfire suddenly makes them much more crucial to the chefs, and worth more than immunity, possibly. Good call, Bravo.
4. This show is better when a few of the chefs have been whittled down.
5. People, when possible, stick to one dish, and do it well. Have you NEVER watched the show? Colicchio loves simplicity - and this show is ALL about Colicchio.
6. I heart Padma. Mostly what she wears, though. Is that wrong, on a cooking show? If it’s wrong, then I don’t want to be right.
7. Top 3: Kevin, Jen, and maybe one of the brothers.
Winner: Jen
Next to go: Jesse? Is that her name? The lip-ring girl? She’s outta here.

been waiting for you to write… you said it all… love your critique… I agree the lipring gal is the next to go… but do not have a favorite yet..

Yay, Jen.
I was hoping with so many girls starting out in the competition that there’d be several at least who could hold their own, but thus far, I am disappointed.
I am increasingly happy to be watching the normal judges again rather than the substitute judges they used for Top Chef Masters. Especially since Padma not only hosts but also knows something about food.
Comment #2 by kaduseyAugust 28th, 2009 at 7:44 amAs for the brothers, it’s all about the tatoo’s. At least that’s how I thought I was telling them apart.
Completely agree with #4. I like it much better when it’s whittled down to those who the cream of the crop. Until then, it’s a little painful.
As for Masters, wasn’t a huge fan of the judges, but I did love the chefs that were on there. No drama, just true professionals mastering their craft.
Comment #3 by AndiAugust 28th, 2009 at 7:55 amI wish they would edit this show just a little differently at least one week so we could be suprised by the outcome.(Or maybe I’ve just watched WAY too many seasons of Top Chef…probably the latter.)
I actually enjoyed watching the brothers compete. I think that will be interesting since I don’t see a Fabio or Carla to keep me entertained. And I miss Fabio. I really do. Where is his TV show? And Carla’s too.
Comment #4 by ZinkaAugust 28th, 2009 at 11:03 amOr Fabio and Carla could do a show together! Awesome.
Comment #5 by The WizAugust 28th, 2009 at 2:45 pmI smiled a little at your comment about Padma’s clothes. I usually love what she wears, but there was this one red dress with sequins and some sort of sweatheart neckline. Hard times.
I love all the flops. Frying a steak?!!!?
