First of all, I wanted to eat every single one of those breakfast in bed dishes (I’m a huge egg/breakfast fan), with the possible exception of Robin’s. Jen’s, too, mosly because she described it as s**t on a shingle, which does not bode well for the anticipation of the dish.
Bryan’s was beautiful, but I can see how the vanilla would have thrown it off. Vanilla and egg are not two things one would normally associate together.
Is it that cool a prize to get your recipe in the TC cookbook?
Elimination:
These chefs are EXHAUSTED. Wandering through the casinos, it was pretty clear they would all rather have gone home to take a nap, possibly flip through a catalog to get inspiration. Jen, in particular, is over it.
Michael’s chicken wing and blue cheese disc looked amazing. I want one. RIGHT NOW. GIMME. No? Fiiiine……….Kevin’s salmon was also something I would order in a heartbeat. And Bryan, of course, solid as well. They’ve clearly reached the point where they’re not even trying to hide who the top 3 are. Of course, it could have just worked out that way.
Seriously, though - 175 people? By yourself? In 3.5 hours? Mean, Bravo. Just mean. I know they’re always mean, but I still like to point it out.
Eli was in serious danger with that revolting peanut mess. I wanted to vomit just looking at it. I think he was a little upset with his theme. Waaah. But in the end, a boring, poorly made panna cotta sent Robin packing. It was time. Possibly past time, but I don’t miss Mike I. in the least. I don’t think Jen was in any real danger, her meat was tough, yes, and in other challenges, that could have been enough to send her home, but it wasn’t anywhere near the nastiness of the other 2. She was solidly “in the middle” on this one.
Sooooooo. Now it gets verry interesting. 5 left - who goes? My guess is either Eli or Jen, but in which order, and will somebody else crash and make a huge mistake, sending one of them (Eli/Jen) to the finals? Will Jen rally and start making her great food again? I wish I knew, but I’m excited to find out.
Winner? I used to think Jen, but now, I really have no idea. It could be either V. brother or Kevin could pull it off. He’s been really strong, and frankly, his stuff looks really tasty. I would be happy with anyone at this point. There’s no “go Carla go” or “get Lisa OUT OF THERE” this time. I like it this way, knowing I’ll be happy for the whomever gets the title.
Discuss.
P.S. Fabio is still sexy.

I’m so glad Robin went. It was past time. I’m still rooting for Jen, but I’m starting to think Kevin has the golden light shining on him. He’s just solid. Every. Single. Time.
The brothers, while both super good, have a cockiness and chip that Kevin just seems to lack. I find myself rooting for Kevin- but you’re right- now that Robin is gone, I don’t really care who wins.
Comment #1 by Tracy MNovember 12th, 2009 at 12:47 pmI think Jen is just too tired to be able to cook anymore. She was so strong at first and now she just looks exhausted.
I’m rooting for Kevin too.
Comment #2 by SueNovember 12th, 2009 at 1:43 pmI like Kevin, if only because I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look mad when somebody else wins instead of him. But I will be happy if any of the remaining chefs win (though I suspect that it won’t be Eli or Jen).
Comment #3 by kaduseyNovember 12th, 2009 at 2:50 pmI think Jen is still not feeling well. They don’t get time to rest and she was sick a few episodes back.
Michael is killing me with the cockiness. “Kevin’s food is the kind of food I cook on my day off.” Saying that is just plain mean. Although, I have to confess that his food is amazing.
I LOVE Kevin’s food. I always want to eat it. Plus, he reads. A LOT. And, he’s mature. He’s one of the top and he never brags. Plus, he’s a gentleman.
Comment #4 by RebeccaNovember 12th, 2009 at 3:47 pmI kept wondering the rationale behind the casino choices. I knew when they drew knives who was going to bomb. Circus Circus and Excalibur? Cheesy might have been a better inspiration for those two casinos. (that’s it - they should have gone with the cheese theme) The one night I spent in the Excalibur in 1992 inspired me never to return.
The Bellagio and the Chihuly piece was a given. Mandalay Bay and fish go hand in hand. New York New York is just easy. And so if they were looking for easy, they should have included Paris too. Could they have used The Luxor? That might have been interesting. The Wynn? Very luxurious. Hard Rock Hotel? Plenty of music to be inspired by. But Circus Circus and Excalibur? Ugh. Eli might have had a point.
p.s. In reading this you might be thinking I know way too much about Las Vegas casinos. This is what happens when you grow up in Utah and travel to Southern California multiple times a year - you learn to love (and hate) Vegas.
Comment #5 by ZinkaNovember 12th, 2009 at 8:00 pmI hear you, but pulling the bad knife is kind of a staple on this show. Remember when Fabio and team had to make “something blue”? Eli could have just made something tasty and said something like “this is what I envision acrobats eating right before a show” or something like that.
What Jen could have done differently with Excalibur, I have no idea. It almost sounded like Tom wanted her to make rancid meat and then cover it up with spices.
Comment #6 by The WizNovember 13th, 2009 at 7:51 pmLate to the party - but just an FYI - these were all MGM Mirage properties.
These include

# MGM GRAND

Wait a minute- ALL of those casinos belong to the same company?
Comment #8 by Tracy MNovember 16th, 2009 at 4:05 pmYes. There are only a few players on the LV strip. MGM-Mirage and Harrahs own most of the hotels, Wynn and Las Vegas Sands are big players market capwise, but don’t have as many properties in Las Vegas. A few more, such as Boyd, and Station if you include downtown and locals places.
