Still Needing Your Prayers12 Mar 2010 02:15 pm

Diana is the one on the right - just doing some clapping.

She is still in the hospital and will probably be there for a while. She is responding well to the antibiotics but her kidneys need some help, so they have begun the baby version of dialysis. She went into cardiac arrest yesterday, but ever since then her heart and lungs have been functioning relatively well. As you can tell, it’s very serious, and she needs your faith and your prayers.
Thank you.

So sorry to hear that she’s having a difficult time. Best wishes to Diana and her family. We’ll continue to mention her in our prayers.
Comment #1 by ResearcherMarch 12th, 2010 at 3:07 pmWe’ve added her to our prayer routinue, but her darling picture definitely helped my 5 yr old. A name with a face is paramount for him.
Hugs and prayers for you and your family Wiz.

Comment #3 by Matt W.March 12th, 2010 at 8:01 pmI’m praying for her over here–and for all of you. And the doctors and nurses. I was hoping that no news (as in no new update) was good news. I hope all gets better really soon.
Comment #4 by KerynMarch 12th, 2010 at 9:57 pmWe will pray for her as well. My own 16 month old went into cardiac arrest this week. We’re at Primary Children’s, is this sweet girl here too? Please tell her parents our love is with them. And let them know that they are her advocate and if they want something done or feel that something needs to change or whatever they need to do to not back down. They might not win popularity contests that way, but they may save their little girl’s life because parents see things that others simply don’t. I know exactly how hard it is to do that sometimes, but let them know how important it is. And if they haven’t already, see if they can talk to a social worker. Most children’s hospitals have social workers on staff. Not only can they help them cope a little better, but the social worker can point out resources that they may not be aware of. I hate being told “take care of yourself” because even though you do need to so that you can be there for your daughter, it’s the hardest thing in the world if not impossible at some times. There’s just too much adrenaline going. (I went 45 hours without sleep and wasn’t even tired, though I was ready to punch the next nurse who told me to sleep.) So also tell them whatever they are doing to cope is just fine (as long as it’s not drugs or alcohol or something else dangerous.)
Comment #5 by SeekerMarch 13th, 2010 at 8:56 amThey’re not at Primary’s, although I would totally point them in your direction if they were. She had a cardiac arrest while hooked up to all kinds of machines, so she barely missed a heartbeat before they got her going again. They’ve taken her off the epinephrine (I think that’s the right drug) to get her heart going, it’s pumping just fine on its own, now, and since they caught it so fast, there shouldn’t be any damage.
The dad is a doctor and is watching all of them like a hawk, and they are confident they are getting good care. The main issue now is the kidneys.
I love social workers in hospitals. I think there should be more of them.

Comment #8 by SueMarch 14th, 2010 at 9:01 pmI’m new to your blog, but I do love mommy blogging for the reason that it gives us a large network of support and friendship - and prayers!
We will definitely pray for your beautiful little niece, and her family too.
Comment #9 by Mrs. PottsMarch 14th, 2010 at 9:04 pmThe Wiz - Your little one mentioned Diana in our Primary class yesterday as we were talking about how “nothing is too hard for the Lord” and how we show trust in Him by asking for His will to be done. Her faith was so perfect, and an example to us all. What precious faith of children. As such, mine are praying for this little one each day too.
