….like I know you care. And I haven’t really blogged this season because I can’t remember their names and I’m having a hard time getting into it as much. However, a couple of things must be mentioned. The “piping hot bowl of hair” chief among them. (TLo came up with that phrase, and I love it. Still, I can’t take credit.)

Behold…..FASHION. Every woman wants an outfit that shows off her hair extenstions….because they’re covering her boobs. I can’t imagine why this didn’t get the auf. I mean, yes, the jockstrap pants were bad, but…..BOWL OF HAIR!!
It was supposed to evoke “fire.” Um, hair burns easily? And smells bad while doing it? That must have been what Amy was going for. Mission accomplished.
Switching seasons, Chris March designed Meryl Streep’s outfit for the Academy Awards.

And he knocked the ball right out of the park. Good for him.

This season has been strange. Although there have been things that I’ve liked. One thing I know I’m sick of - B&W color blocking.
Could it be that the switch to Lifetime threw off the vibe and the selection process?
Comment #1 by jendoopMarch 15th, 2010 at 12:25 pmIt’s about the only thing I watch on TV right now. I’m glad they moved it back to New York. I had to laugh the week they had the hardware store challenge. When they introduced it to the designers, all the women got this look of delight (Oooooh! Crafting!) and all the men got this look of horror (Ewww! Crafting!) And…the women rocked it and (some of) the men had their worst fail ever. Really, that bikini-like-thing made of washers was the most hilariously bad design–ever–on Project Runway. Good thing only me and a couple of other hard core fans saw it.
Comment #2 by Mommie DearestMarch 15th, 2010 at 12:41 pmOh, that bikini thing was bad. I don’t know why that didn’t lose, either. It is better in NY, but the Lifetime thing does seem to have thrown off the vibe.
Comment #3 by The WizMarch 15th, 2010 at 12:59 pmI agree that PR just isn’t what it used to be.
That said, I was glad Amy wasn’t the one cut last night, because I actually really like her work and think shes pretty good most of the time. Other guy was not nearly as good.
Comment #4 by MeganMarch 15th, 2010 at 1:37 pmYou read TLo too!? Love them! Even now that the designers are getting low in number, I still find myself saying, “I’ve never seen that person before!”
Comment #5 by JuanhijoMarch 15th, 2010 at 2:10 pmI blog about PR occassionally, and I couldn’t let this one go unnoticed. That shark suit was awful. But I agree, not nearly as bad as the bowl of hair. What was Amy thinking?! I too, am kind of glad she didn’t get kicked off, though. Remember that potato sack thing she made–I would have worn that, it was lovely!
Lifetime has definately changed the feel of the show. Whether it’s the editing or the interaction between the designers, something feels off. And can I say, have the designers ever been so disrespectful towards Tim Gunn before? They all completely ignore him when he tells them it’s time to go to the runway! Every time! What is up with that?
Comment #6 by mellocelloMarch 16th, 2010 at 6:56 amI don’t think the switch to Lifetime has changed anything. It’s just the casting. Different designers make for a different show.
I find it ironic that some of the best designs were from the potato sack challenge.
Comment #7 by Susan MMarch 16th, 2010 at 8:58 amYeah, I can’t get into it at all. And I hope Susan is right and it’s just the casting this season. Bowl of hair? Ugh. Ick.
Comment #8 by Tracy MMarch 16th, 2010 at 10:07 amJay’s garbage leather pants and belt last week were the highlight for me. If he can make garbage bags look good, he’s got talent.
I too was so excited for Chris March. Meryl Streep looked fabulous. (Unlike some of the other red carpet choices…)
Comment #9 by ZinkaMarch 16th, 2010 at 10:18 am[…] There are no words for paisley wallpaper. People who ever ever thought paisley wallpaper was a good idea should burn forever in a hell where everybody wears blue eyeshadow and has to wear gowns with piping hot bowls of hair. (See Wiz’s post below) […]
