My son is getting baptized today. He’s all, like, big, and everything. He can shower and go potty and walk to the bus stop and do his homework without being asked. He can run to the neighbor’s house and pour his own milk and operate the Wii better than I can. He knows how to do algebra and reads until late at night and knows about ancient Egypt. He is the tallest kid on the soccer team and knows how to steal the ball from the other players. He refuses to use the words “Mommy” and “Daddy” because the “eee on the end makes it sounds like baby talk.”
Please tell me. When did this happen? I feel like I blinked, and in place of my tiny happy baby is a big, happy boy. I’m so blessed to be his mom.
Happy weekend, everybody.

My oldest gets baptized this summer and I’m feeling like you are. It’s crazy how fast they get big!
Comment #1 by AubreyMarch 20th, 2010 at 7:07 amBut such a happy weekend for you! Wear waterproof mascara and carry lots of tissues. And enjoy it.
My son’s 8th birthday was yesterday. It is crazy how these big things happen so quickly!
I posted about this big milestone here-

Comment #3 by Sues2u2March 20th, 2010 at 10:27 amMy baby just got baptized last week and I was saying the exact same thing! He’s so big now and full of knowledge. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Not the tiny little cuddle-ball anymore, but certainly still a ball of energy!
Comment #4 by KamiMarch 20th, 2010 at 7:18 pmMy baby is turning 8 on Monday and getting baptized on Saturday. I don’t know where the time went. And pretty soon, he’ll be too big to hold in my lap! Oh, what a sad day that will be!
Comment #5 by BMarch 20th, 2010 at 7:32 pmWell, sorry to say but this June he will be graduating from high school….lol that is how fast time flies.
Comment #6 by Lisa SMarch 20th, 2010 at 9:09 pmMy oldest is 17, my youngest is 4 and all I know is that it is RIDICULOUS how fast they grow up! It’s exciting to watch but heartbreaking to let go of each passage as well!
Comment #7 by ChristineMarch 20th, 2010 at 10:22 pmMy son will be starting junior high this fall. We got a note about registration for classes, a tour and all that stuff. I honestly have to think to remember his as a little kid, and the baby moments? Can’t remember much without the aid of pictures. Makes my heart swell- with both tears & expectations…

Comment #11 by ParkerMarch 22nd, 2010 at 6:40 amMy son turns 12 in June (he is my only “baby” as dear stepson was 13 when I married DH, and DD came to us at age 5.) He goes hunting with Dad and does other “man” stuff. At night, though, he still asks me to “rest” with him before bed and we have our quiet time and our serious talks about life and dreams and his thoughts as we are snuggled together. A good night’s sleep would be great, but I’m not giving up my mommy time quite yet.
