…..is kind of a funny place to be.
People staring at cans of condensed milk, asking questions on their cell phones. People wandering the aisles clutching lists, eyes glazed over. It was enough to make DH want to go up to people and say “Look. This is what you want. LOW SODIUM chicken broth. That way, you control the salt level, and everything doesn’t end up tasting like a salt lick. See? Here. Get this one. What else do you need?” Of course, he didn’t, but I wonder if people would have been grateful or creeped out.
Speaking of my husband, he has always brined our turkey using Alton Brown’s recipe, and it has always turned out divine. (We haven’t tried the new one, but it looks amazing. Honey brined smoked turkey!!) This year, however, thanks to a certain “Thanksgiving Throwdown” episode of Bobby Flay, DH is using The Pioneer Woman’s technique. When somebody kicks Bobby Flay’s booty, my husband pays attention. Also, I made her chipotle corn chowder for dinner, and well, anybody who can give ME a recipe that can turn out that tasty, has some serious street cred.
And now I’m hungry and can’t wait for Thanksgiving. How are you making your turkey?
So happy eating everybody! I hope you’ve all gone shopping already, or, if you haven’t, prepare yourself. And remember to bring your cell phone, or you won’t fit in, and nobody wants that.
