I swear this summer has picked me up, swirled me about a bit, and is finally in the process of putting me down. I just hope I get let down gently, and not slammed down with a lot of force. And while I could do without the “bruises”, getting swirled about a bit is good every once in a while, I guess.
Some random thoughts:
My husband is awesome. Various cousins/siblings agree on this point. If I know anything, I know this.
Beaches are sandy. I always forget this. But there is just a LOT of sand.
Emotional drama is exhausting.
The Detroit airport is very very weird. Especially after a red eye.
Getting off the airplane, and then taking various shuttles to your car, only to discover a dead battery, is NOT the best feeling in the world. (I know, you would think it would be, but no.) Flagging down a random stranger at 1 a.m. and having him say YES, he will help you, ranks quite highly on the “good feeling” spectrum, however. (His battery was in the back. Are all Mercedes built this way? Mercedes’? Mercedes’s? How do you pluralize this car?)
There is such a thing as “too much togetherness.”
Girls camp leaders are unbelievably amazing, and made my daughter’s first girl’s camp a great one, despite the odds being stacked against them (let’s just say the wildfires made for interesting camping workarounds). If you are a girl’s camp leader, I bow to you. And then I bow again. I.am.in.AWE.
