So, I have a question for you - what have been your favorite callings, and what are your “nightmare” callings? I am currently Gospel Doctrine teacher, and I will tell anyone who asks that it’s the best calling in the church. It keeps you in the scriptures like nothing else does, you learn more than any class member, and it’s Sunday only, (except prep time, of course, but you can do that on your own schedule). No weekly meetings, no activites to plan, no food to deal with, nothing like that.
My fear calling? YW president. Holy cow. The responsibility of shaping those fragile testimonies. The activites to plan. The super activites to plan. The staff to manage. The hormones flying at you every which way. And oh, the camping! Actually, any calling that involves camping would be difficult for me, so don’t even mention the words “camp director” in my presence. I will take those girls camping, you bet. We will hit the Marriott and read the Book of Mormon placed in the rooms, which will probably do them more good, anyway.
I was in a YW presidency for 3 years, so I know a little bit of what they go through, (and yes, I camped) but the Pres has way more stuff to deal with, what with all the stake meetings and such on top of everything else. Now I know I will get this calling, just to be humbled, but I live in fear…..(actually, our ward has zero YW right now, so our current YW Pres doubles as a nursery worker).
Our ward also has a terrible time trying to staff the nursery. People say no to that one. Constantly.
So, best callings? Worst callings? And how to turn “bad” callings into “good” ones?
