Yup, I’m done. It took five years of living in the cold Pacific Northwest winters, but as of today, I’m done. Kaput. Let’s go home now. California here I come. Joke’s over.
Seventeen degrees this morning, and I had to run carpool. It positively dumped snow on us last night, and while my DH was kind enough to shovel and salt in the pre-dawn darkness, who knew that your car doors can freeze closed? So here’s me, three kids bundled up in all their winter puffiness, baby under arm, frozen keys in hand, and I can’t get the &*%$#@# car doors open!
Gee, what to do? What to do? Can’t set the baby down in the snowpile- Ok- everyone back in the house, now! Whining and complaining and slipping and sliding, I heard all the Monkeys back in the house, now tracking wads and blops of snow all over my kitchen, and make my way back to the frozen wasteland that is my driveway…
Turns out a little pressure, only requiring both hands, and I managed to crack the glacier that is my Suburban open. Start the beast, turn the heat up to ”Saharan Vortex” and go back inside to re-heard the Monkeys. Of course they have removed all their snow gear in the 3.5 minutes I have been outside…
It took me longer to get everyone in the car, buckled up and out the driveway than it did to actually deliver the Terrorists to school.
La la la la la-la…California Dreamin, on such a winter’s day….
