The palm queen lives! I just wanted to let you know that the shamrocks have arrived. Every house that has a palm tree still standing has paper shamrocks hanging from it. Those of us that don’t have a tree up have shamrocks placed on real trees and/or bushes in the yard. It is so freaky.
The palm trees were technically supposed to be up until the first day of Spring. There are 13 houses on our street, and only 4 palms are still up. I guess I wasn’t the only one who thought enough was enough. I was naive enough to think this was going away. But now I don’t know how to stop random various paper decorations from showing up on my real trees.
I pulled out of my driveway, stared at my tree, and immediately thought I was a bad parent since I hadn’t put my kids in green today, I wasn’t wearing green, and hence had doomed everyone in my family to a day of pinching and teasing.
But I was wrong. The shamrocks were just early. And somehow, I’m not sure they will survive the full 3 days necessary to instill leprechaun magic. They are paper, after all, it is windy, and, of course, they “might” just have a fatal accident.
I really hope that once I list this house, no random decorations show up. I hope the palm queen is that considerate. Because I really think they might deter potential buyers.
Maybe moving isn’t going to be so bad.
