This is a guest post by frequent commenter, Cheryl. Of course, my answer to her question is that the sun would stop shining, the birds would become mute, and the world as we know it would end. But that’s just me.
An introduction to blogging by my aunt over a year ago created a spark in me. What? A way to express myself anonymously? Are you serious? Where do I sign up?
Now, after a year of blogging, I have been having second thoughts.
I know. You are all gasping in horror that I would leave this world of random thoughts, crazy debates, healthy sharing of information, and anonymous insult slinging. But I have a feeling that most of you have felt the same way. What would happen if I stopped blogging? Here’s the answers for me:
I would spend more time with my children.
I would worry less about what faceless pseudonyms thought of me.
I would go outside more often and exercise.
I would focus more on my friends that I have actually met.
I would practice my piano.
I would make real meals for my family more often.
I would ache for a way to express myself through writing.
I would lose vast information readily at my fingertips.
I would miss my anonymous friends.
But here’s the kicker: Would anybody care? Would anybody honestly care if I (or anyone of us, really) stopped blogging? This vast world of blogging has so many people in it. Would anyone notice just one? (I mean, to be honest, if I stopped blogging, then I wouldn’t notice if you stopped blogging, unless the blogging fairy came to me in a dream and told me that somehow the world of blogging is being turned upside down by the loss of “whats-her-face-blogger-mommy-person-with-great-stories-and-advice”–you know what I’m sayin’?)
What would happen if you stopped blogging? What would you do? How would your life change?
