My little man came in really early this morning, crying. Crap. Then he snuggled up and went back to sleep. Score! Then he woke up around 8:30 and puked all over me and my bed. Crap.
Both he and my oldest daughter have fevers, and my husband is out of town for the day.
Today is clearly not the day to begin my Dr. Pepper detox.

Maybe it is a sign from God that Dr. Pepper is a smaller sin than killing your children. That is what I decided about my diet Mt. Dew habit. Good luck with the pukes and the MIA hubby. You do not want to know what I am doing today, you would die with envy. Sorry.
Comment #1 by Jo in UtahSeptember 27th, 2007 at 7:10 amEeeeeeeek. We just finished with croup. I am SO SORRY. Dr. Pepper will get you through this, just keep drinking. : ) Hang in there.
Comment #2 by SueSeptember 27th, 2007 at 7:17 amThis weekend my 12 year old spent throwing up. Thought it was food poisoning. But then my 14 yo spent all day tuesday. Now it has struck the 18 yo. Oh joy! The family that shares. 3 down, 3 to go. Not to mention we are in theatre. and the show is this weekend. The show must go on. This too shall pass.
Comment #3 by pollySeptember 27th, 2007 at 7:46 amMy drug of choice? Coke, lots of sugary goodness.
Uh I’d keep drinking.
Stomach flu is just the pitts.ugggg
Comment #4 by Sarah ISeptember 27th, 2007 at 7:52 amI woke up sick this morning, too. Keep drinking the Dr. P.
Comment #5 by Tracy MSeptember 27th, 2007 at 8:10 amMan, something weird is going on. I’m sick, too. Are the MMW vibes getting too strong? Do we need to disconnect somehow? Sarah, are you sick too?
Comment #6 by Heather O.September 27th, 2007 at 8:16 amMaybe it’s all the new germs from being back in school??
Comment #7 by berzerkcarrottpoSeptember 27th, 2007 at 10:17 amIt’s days like that which confirm for me a much deeper, more personal reason for the Lord having forbidden us alcohol. Without it, I’m afraid, I’d go straight for a beer. Thank heaven for Diet Coke and Dr Pepper!
Comment #8 by LindsaySeptember 27th, 2007 at 3:16 pmYeah, we just got over croup too. And I’m also trying to cut down on my Dr. Pepper drinkage. I’m starting to see a pattern here…
Comment #9 by dangermomSeptember 27th, 2007 at 5:00 pmThe day that happened to my oldest was the worst day ever! It was meningitis NOT the flu. So whenever my kids get a headache & fever I panic!!!
Comment #10 by Natalie S.September 27th, 2007 at 5:43 pm(And I’m sure it’s not meningitis…)
Good luck! Drink away!
Wow, can I relate to the Dr. Pepper addiction! Good luck with everything
Comment #11 by tropicannaSeptember 27th, 2007 at 7:33 pmBeing sick is awful –but being sick with hubby gone? Yuck and yuck.
I remember (slightly fondly because it was so long ago) when I was potty-training #1. Day two into training, her little sister gets the stomach flu. Ah, yes, cleaning up everything out of one end on the first, and both ends on the second. Those 3 days were hellish, but now I can live to tell about them and laugh. Or maybe it’s cry. Well, whatever it is, I lived to tell about it!
Oh, which reminds me (sorry, this is a long comment here), I remember when my hubby went off to Youth Conference and had to be called back because I was taken to the ER with a 105 fever and stomach pains. Ended up being Pnuemonia. But anyways, the point is that having hubby gone for that first day was just awful because I didn’t know what to do or who to call –thank goodness my mother (who was in another state; but I still had to call mommy) reminded me that my Home Teacher was a Doctor.
Comment #12 by cherylSeptember 28th, 2007 at 6:28 amI’m not sick, Heather, but if it helps you get over the Dr. Pepper, Wiz, just remember that it’s basically just carbonated prune juice. I used to be a big DP user in high school (a six pack a day) until someone told me it was prune juice soda and for some reason that got me over it.
Getting puke in your bed is the worst. It’s easy enough to change kid’s beds but changing the master bedding is a total hassle. And you got it on yourself? I’m so sorry. Good vibes coming at you from L.A.
Comment #13 by SarahSeptember 28th, 2007 at 7:01 amno wonder I can’t stand dr. pepper, prune juice, (shudder, gag!)
Comment #14 by moddySeptember 28th, 2007 at 9:08 amSorry, ladies, but Dr. Pepper contains not a bit of prune juice, although if it helps you to quit…

Comment #15 by ChristySeptember 28th, 2007 at 3:36 pmNo, I knew it wasn’t prune juice. I’m well aware.
Comment #16 by The WizSeptember 28th, 2007 at 4:06 pmWhat?!? Another Dr. Pepper addict? I KNEW there was another reason why I love you so much!
Have you ever had it hot with fresh lemon? It is the perfect cold fighter.
Comment #17 by Tammy and ParkerSeptember 29th, 2007 at 3:35 pmI bet Dr. Pepper is good hot with lemon. I’m with the Diet Mt. Dew ladies….my mom keeps hinting that I should give it up, and I just tell her, Oh sure, well as long as you’re willing to come clean my house and take care of my kids every day while I sleep, because otherwise, not gonna happen!
Good luck with the bed puke! It’s awful having to do all that pukey laundry. That and getting puke out of the carpet are my least favorite. When will my children learn to aim??
